Premier League - April 22nd
AFC FLETTON 5 PARSON DROVE 2
Nick Markillie thought the score harsh on Drove who he says played very well for most of this game. Fletton were fast out of the traps and Drove faced a two goal deficit early doors. They played their way back into contention with goals from Sam Kilby and it was only a late flourish from Championship chasing Fletton that condemned Drove to a fourth consequetive defeat upon which to conclude season 2008/09.

ALCONBURY 3 PARSON DROVE 1
James Clarke was the Drove goal-scorer in what is becoming a dissapointing finish to the season for Drove. Recent months have presented manager Nick Markillie with the loss of many first choice players through injurys, suspensions, and of course the one or two who jumped ship.

Premier League - April 15th
MOULTON HARROX 3 PARSON DROVE 1
Nick Markillie had a threadbare squad to pick from and had to look to the reserves to make up the numbers, it was reserve stalwart Johnny Rowe who scored the consolation goal in this predictable 3-1 defeat.

PARSON DROVE 3 STAMFORD BELVEDERE 0
An incident packed game - a hat-trick for Michael Moore and Drove ending with 9 men. Paul Shafer, sent off only last week, was red carded for violent conduct in the first half and later in the game Gary Hancock's comments to the referee caused his dismissal.

LEVERINGTON 1 PARSON DROVE 1
Drove ended up with 10 men versus Leveringtons 9. Paul Shafer went for violent conduct, Leverington had already been reduced to 9 at the time, a straight red to Coe for a late tackle and a second yellow to McManus. The goals came in earlier, Drove had taken a well desreved lead through Michael Moore in the first half, Leverington levelled with a penatly early in the second.

PINCHBECK UNITED 2 PARSON DROVE 1
Drove won't want to hurry back to Pinchbeck - this fixture was abandonded earlier in the season when Grant Watson broke his leg there and after this replay we look to have lost Matty Fuller with an injured ankle, and perhaps Adam Wright for the rest of the season. Drove started well and took the lead from a free kick taken by Denny Escorcio after 12 minutes, but not long after goalkeeper Wright had to be replaced - Wayne Cottrill carrying his own injury took over between the sticks. Before half-time Fuller sustained his injury and was off . After the break Pinchbeck took advantage of Droves problems, the equaliser came in short order followed quickly by the winning goal - Drove regrouped and settled back into the game and probably deserved a draw, but on days like these you don't always get what you deserve.

PARSON DROVE 2 UPPINGHAM TOWN 0
Very much a game of two halves this one, Drove played some nice passing football in the first half and with a style that was easy on the eye cruised to a 2-0 lead with goals from Matty Fuller and Wayne Cottril - ironically both playing in defense. Uppingham made sure Escorcio was closely marked in the second half which was key to blunting Drove as an attacking force and the visitors dominated but lacked confidence in front of goal, but for some atrocious finishing they would have got back into this match. Drove did have an opportunity to make the game safe with the award of a penalty 10 minutes from time but the goalkeeper saved the kick quite comfortably.

Premier League - March 7th
RUTLAND RANGERS 1 PARSON DROVE 1
Drove took a deserved point away from Rutland who must have expected an easy 3 points when they took the lead in the first minute, however Drove had the better of things during the first half and Matty Fuller equalised just before half time. The second half was fairly even with goal chances few and the draw was a fair result.

Premier League - February 28th
PARSON DROVE 2 WIMBLINGTON 1
Drove left it late to clinch the points in this game, the Wimblington keeper unable to hold a blistering free kick from Denny Escorcio, the rebound poked home by Paul Shafer. It was 1-1 at half-time, the Drove goal from Shafer. The second half saw Drove pressing forward - Moore, Mockford and Escorcio were proving difficult to handle and Escorcio bore the brunt of many a clumsy tackle by Wimblington. Wimblington played some football as well and a draw looked likely, however with 15 minutes to go they were reduced to 10 men and Drove took advantage of the extra man to claim the win they just about deserved.

RAMSEY TOWN 2 PARSON DROVE 0
On current form this defeat was fairly predictable, Ramsey challenging Rutland Rangers for the League title could not afford any slip-ups and duly picked off Drove who to their credit made the game harder than the home side may have expected. Both Ramsey goals had an element of controversy about them, Gary Haimes conceding a harsh penalty and keeper Sam Kilby impeded on their second.

PFA Senior Cup - January 24th
MOULTON HARROX 2 PARSON DROVE 0
Drove exited the competition they were worthy finalists of last season in disappointingly low key fashion, Moulton took the lead after ten minutes and scored again ten later, the game was effectively over as Drove were unable to raise their game - a comeback never looked likely.

DEEPING SPORTS 4 PARSON DROVE 1
Drove finished with 9 men on a day they'll wish to forget - that said, manager Nick Markillie was pleased with the numerous chances Drove created in front of goal though disappointed with the finishing. Michael Moore in his first game on returning to the club was sent off after collecting two yellows and fellow returnee Dominic Pintillie quickly joined him after being shown a straight red card so vehement were his protests over Moores' sending off. Paul Shafer scored the Drove goal from a penalty given when the score was 3-0 and the game already lost.
Team - Wright, Muffett, Fuller, Haime, Cozens, Pintillie, Mockford, Hancock, Shafer, Kilby, Moore. Subs - (not used) Mikaila, Patrick, N.Markillie.
Premier League - January 3rd
PARSON DROVE 2 ALCONBURY 3
After a run of decent results Drove came down to earth with a crash - the scoreline may indicate a close game but in truth Alconbury cruised this game against a very out of sorts looking home team. The visitors went ahead from a well taken free kick early in the game but Paul Shafer put Drove level just before the break. Alconbury played all the football in a second half in which they scored twice before Sam Kilby made it 3-2 with a late goal for Drove.
Team - Wright, Clare, Fuller, Haime, Cozens, Muffett, Mockford, Pintillie, Patrick, Kilby, Shafer. Sub - Hancock.
Premier League - December 27th
PARSON DROVE 0 RUTLAND RANGERS 0
An entertaining game, more so than the scoreline would suggest. Drove were always in the driving seat and should have won easily but for some wayward finishing. The League leaders didn't offer much and will have been relieved to have left Main Road with an undeserved point - the Rutland side were forced into numerous goalline clearances.
Team - Wright, Clare, Fuller, Haime, Cozens, Muffett, Mockford, Taylor, Shafer, Patrick, Kilby. Sub - Clarke. Subs (not used) Papworth, Rowe.

WIMBLINGTON 1 PARSON DROVE 4
A fine win for the Drove, despite the set back of conceding an early goal the team showed great spirit and fought back to a 2-1 interval lead with goals from Paul Shafer and Sam Kilby. Wimblington were reduced to 10 men in the second half, Martin Porter being sent off for a hand-ball offence which seemed harsh - Shafer scored from the resulting penalty and Sam Kilby wrapped up the game with his second.
Team - Wright, Clare, Fuller, Haime, Cozens, Muffett, Taylor,Mikaila, Shafer, Mockford, Kilby. Subs Clarke, Rowe. Sub not used - N.Markille.

CROWLAND TOWN 1 PARSON DROVE 0
A return match with last weeks opponents and returning players for Drove but a disappointing result. Drove had chances but this seasons blunt edge in front of goal was evident again and the chance of picking up League points was lost, as was the game, when Crowland scored the only goal of the match.

PARSON DROVE 0 CROWLAND TOWN 0
Missing key players for Drove and a damp foggy afternoon made for a lack-lustre game at Main Road best summed up by Drove supporter Josephine, aged 11, who seeking refuge in the pavillion said - " this is the most boring match I've ever seen". Myself - I've seen worse but then I've got 40 years more football watching to my credit - both sides put in effort but this scrappy affair, in which it was rare to see two passes strung together, never looked like producing a goal.
Team - Wright, Fuller, Adams, Haime, Clare, Cozens,Taylor, Chilton, Mockford, Patrick, Mikaila. Subs - Clarke, Kilby, N.Markillie, Hancock.
Premier League - November 22nd
PINCHBECK UNITED 1 PARSON DROVE 0
Match Abandonded 25 mins.
Drove midfielder Grant Watson broke his leg after 25 minutes of the Peterborough Premier Division game at Pinchbeck on Saturday. Grant only recently joined us from March Town and had settled in really well at the club. He was detained in Boston hospital and had a successful operation on Monday. The incident came midway through the first half with Pinchbeck already 1-0 up from a cleverly taken free-kick, but the referee abandoned the game.
Team - J.Patrick, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Parsons, Muffett, Taylor, Watson, Shafer, Mockford, Chilton. Subs (not used) - Mikaila, Hancock, N.Markillie.
Peterborough FA Senior Cup 2nd Round - November 15th
PARSON DROVE 5 UPPINGHAM TOWN 2
This was a very entertaining match, the football wasn't always pretty, but the goals were good when they came. Uppingham started brightly and took an early lead, Drove equalised with a superb goal from Jamie Clarke, reminiscent of Ryan Giggs, his solo run left the opposition sitting on their arses and he cracked in a fine far post finish. Man-of-the Match Clarke then created the second goal, his shot slotted in by Paul Shafer after being beaten away by the Uppingham keeper. After the break Uppingham looked lively but the game seemed wrapped up when slightly against the run of play Jamie Muffett made it 3-1 to Drove. Drove then dominated but it was Uppinghams turn to get a break - score 3-2. This was now a typical cup-tie but spaces started opening up for the Drove as their opponents had no choice but to go for an equaliser, Michael Cozens broke with the ball from inside-left, cut in and delivered it on a plate for Muffet to knock into the net for his second - a nicely crafted goal. A second for Shafer, 5-2, game over.
Team - Wright, Fuller, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Watson, Clarke, Muffett,Shafer, Hancock, Chilton. Subs - Mikaila, Adams,Wilson, N.Markillie.
Premier League - November 1st
UPPINGHAM TOWN 1 PARSON DROVE 1
A game manager Nick Markillie was disappointed not to have taken 3 points from, Drove had most of the ball but were unable to convert it into goals and had to settle for the draw, Chilton the Drove scorer.
Team - Wright, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Muffett, Watson, Fuller,Shafer, J.Patrick, Chilton. Subs - Clarke, Cottrill. Subs not used - Hancock, N.Markillie.
Cambridgeshire Cup - October 25th
ELY CITY RESERVES 3 PARSON DROVE 1
A controversial game decided by some surprising decisions by the referee. Drove started well, Paul Shafer scoring from the penalty spot mid-way through the first half. Early in the second half Lupson got to the end of a long throw and equalised for Ely. Drove were still much the better side but fell victim to a quickly taken free kick - the referee allowed the goal though he was still speaking to Droves' Gary Haime. A third goal towards the finish gave Ely an undeserved victory.
Team - Wright, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Muffett, Chilton, Watson,Shafer, J.Patrick, Fuller. Subs - Clarke, Cottrill, Speechley, Kilby.
Premier League - October 18th
PARSON DROVE 1 MOULTON HARROX 1
An impressive Harrox side gave Drove the run-around in the first half but failed to capitalise on the single goal which gave them a well deserved lead. The second half was a much more even affair and a nice move 15 minutes from time was finished by Wayne Cottrill, Drove could even have nicked this one in the end but a draw was a fair result.
Team - Kilby, Clare, Fuller, Cozens, Haime, Hancock, Chilton, Muffet, Shafer, J.Patrick, Clarke. Subs - Cottrill, Speechley, Mikaila.
Premier League - October 11th
PARSON DROVE 1 WIMBLINGTON 0
Match Abandonded 75 mins.
The Drove were pretty much back to full strength for this game and the improvement of recent weeks continued in a bright first half in which some pleasing football was played. The early goal seemed to indicate more to come, there was plenty of action in the Wimblington goal area but at half-time the score remained at 1-0. Wimblington improved in the second half but without troubling the Drove keeper. With about 15 minutes left a robust 50/50 tackle left Wimblington mid-fielder Marc Sheeran clearly distressed with a leg injury, he was unable to be moved from the pitch and the game was suspended. The player was attended to by a paramedic but with a delay in the arrival of an ambulance and the player still unable to moved from the pitch, the referee abandonded the game approx 30 minutes after the incident happened. Everyone at the Drove wishes the injured player a speedy recovery. The game will be replayed later in the season.
Team - Wright, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Clarke, Fuller, Hancock, Shafer, J.Patrick, Rowe. Sub - Cottrill. Subs not used - Speechley, N.Markille.
Update Oct 13th - We hear that Marc Sheeran suffered ruptured knee ligaments and that at 30 years of age he may not play again. We at PDFC are sorry to hear this bad news.
Premier League - October 4th
PETERBOROUGH SPORTS 3 PARSON DROVE 3
Sports have not won a Premier game this season so it was a dissapointed Drove team that returned home with only the one point, they had to come from behind 3 times with goals from Jamie Muffett, Michael Cozens and James Patrick.
Team - A.Patrick, Speechley, Cozens, Haime, Clare, Muffett, Fuller, Hancock, Shafer, J.Patrick, Clarke. Subs - Cottrill, S.Markille. Sub not used - N.Markillie .
Peterborough FA Senior Cup 1st Round - September 27th
DEEPING SPORTS 0 PARSON DROVE 0
(0-0 After Extra Time. Parson Drove won 6-7 on penalties).
A jubilant team returned to Parson Drove with this cup scalp under their belts. It was a well deserved if unexpected victory, though it had to go to a penalty shoot-out to decide the tie. Drove had already missed a penalty in normal time, and had a James Patrick 'goal' dubiously disallowed for handball just two minutes from the end of extra-time.
Team -Kilby, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Fuller, Clarke, Hancock, Shafer, Patrick, Muffett. Subs - Cottrill, Speechley.
Premier League - September 20th
STAMFORD BELS 0 PARSON DROVE 3
Drove ran out easy winners against Stamord Belvedere. Goals from Matty Fuller, Paul Shafer and James Patrick condemned Stamford to their seventh consecutive defeat.

Premier League - September 13th
WHITTLESEY 3 PARSON DROVE 0
Another frustrating day for the Drove, goalkeeper Adam Wright was sent off for bringing down Whittleseys' Christine when he was through on goal but manager Nick Markillie thought the decision harsh as the player still managed to slot the ball home before the ref blew-up to award a penalty kick. The result however, was as convincing as Uniteds' win by the same score at Main Rd two weeks ago.
Team -Wright, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Muffett, Harnwell, Speechley, Hancock, Shafer, Patrick, Fuller. Subs (not used) - Sargeant, N.Markillie.

PARSON DROVE 0 PINCHBECK UNITED 0
A hard fought draw gained a much changed Drove a deserved point against a strong Pinchbeck team. Drove were unable to select any of the usual front line but welcomed back Steve Thompson to central defence where he and Gary Haime stood firm, and along with a couple of fine saves from Adam Wright, enabled Drove to be the first team to shut-out Pinchbeck this season.

Team -Wright, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Harnwell, Sargeant, Speechley, Hancock, Fuller, Clarke. Subs - Parsons, Taylor, Moore. Sub not used - N.Markillie.
Premier League - August 30th
PARSON DROVE 6 LEVERINGTON 1
There was no clue at half-time about the final outcome of this match. Drove took an early lead through Paul Shafer and their football was much improved from Tuesday, but Leverington were allowed to equalise just before half-time as the normally reliable Drove defense perhaps lost concentration. Any concerns about the outcome were soon answered though as Drove exploded into life ten minutes into the second half - in a mad 5 minutes Drove ran amok and a bewildered Leverington conceded 4 goals including a hat-trick from James Patrick (against his old club) and another from Shafer. Gary Hancock weighed in with the sixth.
Team -Wright, Clare, Cozens, Muffett, Haime, Harnwell, Fuller, Hancock, Shafer, Patrick, Mikaila. Subs - Speechley, Sargent. Sub not used - Parsons.
Premier League - August 26th
PARSON DROVE 0 WHITTLESEY 3
There isn't much consolation to be gained from this one - Drove were out of sorts and goal scoring opportunities were scant. The cause wasn't helped with the conceding of a penalty on about 62 minutes - the third game running this has happened around this point of the match.
Team -Wright, Speechley, Cozens, Haime, Parsons, Harnwell, Clark, Hancock, Shafer, Patrick, Mikaila. Subs - Clare, Fuller, Cottrill. Sub not used - Rowe.
Premier League - August 22nd
PARSON DROVE 1 AFC FLETTON 2
In an entertaining match Fletton took the lead with a well taken goal mid-way through the first half. Drove looked lively and though the equaliser was a bit fortunate - an own goal from some goal-mouth scrambling - it was well deserved. Drove looked lively at the start of the second half and it seemed not if but when they may take the lead - and then it all went wonky as they inexplicably lost their way, Fletton gained in confidence as Drove fell deeper and deeper and then for the second time this week conceded a penalty - handball by Gary Haimes - which Fletton converted to take the points.
Team -Wright, Speechley, Cozens, Haime, Parsons, Harnwell, Clark, Hancock, Shafer, Patrick, Mikaila. Sub - Moore. Subs not used - Wilson & Kilby.
Premier League - August 19th
PARSON DROVE 0 DEEPING SPORTS 3
Deeping showed why they are favourites to win this League with a comfortable win though Drove were unbalanced by the loss of Jamie Muffet after only three minutes. The first half was fairly even but Deeping took the lead late in the half, at that point Drove could think themselves unfortunate. The second 45 minutes were dominated by Deeping, a penalty put them two ahead and a third late in the game wrapped up the points.
Team -Wright, Clare, Cozens, Haime, Muffett, Harnwell, Clark, Speechley, Shafer, Fuller, Mikaila. Subs - Hancock, Parsons, Patrick. Subs not used - Sargeant & Rowe.
Premier League - August 16th
PARSON DROVE 2 OUNDLE TOWN 0
Jamie Muffett and Artur Mikaila got Drove off to a winning start to the new league campaign - the first goal was controversial as JamieMuffett appeared to handle the ball into the net. On 55 mins Drove scored their second, a cross from Paul Shafer guided home by Artur Makaila.
Team -Wright, Muffett, Cozens, Haime, Thompson, Clare, Harnwell, Speechley, Shafer, Patrick, Mikaila. Subs - Clark, Hancock, Sargeant. Subs not used - Fuller & Rowe.

Jack Hogg Shield - August 8th
PARSON DROVE 2 MOULTON HARROX 2
Paul Shafer and Matty Fuller twice put Drove ahead but Harrox came back to earn a draw in the annual Jack Hogg Charity Shield. An entertaining game was overshadowed by an injury to Harrox's Lee Hudson who sustained a broken leg - everyone at PDFC wish him a speedy and full recovery.

Parson Drove FC Centenary Match July 5th 2008

PARSON DROVE 0 CAMBRIDGE CITY 6

The visit of Southern League Premier Division side Cambridge City to Parson Drove was a great success and PDFC would once again like to express our thanks to Cambridge City for accepting our invitation to play a celebration friendly match to commemorate the centenary of both clubs. Cambridge brought a sizeable support who added to the occasion greatly, we had Groundhoppers from London, Nottingham and Rugby and doubtless other far-flung places, and from feedback on the day and e-mails received since, everyone enjoyed the occasion.
The Drove were solid in defence against a fluid City side who moved the ball well. Drove felt unlucky to go in at half-time a goal down - a shot deflected off the left post just before the break.

In the second-half the difference in status became clear as our visitors took control of the game and scored a second goal 20 minutes into the second half. As the Drove tired City were able to play some attractive football and finished with a flourish of 4 goals in the final quarter of the match.
Goals : D.Roberts (2), M.Gash, N.Midgley, M.E'Beyer, S.Smith.
Attendance : 250 (approx).

We were pleased to welcome City and their supporters to a post-match buffet in the Village Hall where the exhibition of Parson Drove FC memorabilia attracted much interest, and both clubs presented the other with a momento marking the occasion.
